Vector Graphics

Images were a dominant factor in Graphical User Interface design for the last two decades. The importance of image as icons is dwindling. The advent of panel monitors makes it technical feasible to increase monitor resolution to rival printed books.

Consider seeing a typical image inside of a Microsoft-Windows® action bar, featuring non-zoom able images with 14x14 pixels on a display with 1200ppi: Those images would be smaller then 0.1mm² –much less than a needle head.

Two technical solutions to replace images are possible. First: by using glyphs –may it be as a self designed font, or better derived from the Chinese language. Second: to use elaborated vector graphics based on TkPath or TkZinc 3.3.6.
