The original intent for writing Gstripes was to provide Apple® OSX 10.4 compliant background Stripes for Tk on AQUA®. With the introduction of Apple® OSX 10.5 have Stripes vanished under AQUA®. But Gstripes has gained a series of very powerful additional features, way beyond the simple task of creating background Stripes. Naturally the original Stripes persists under AQUA®, X Window System and Microsoft-Windows®. More precisely anything can be put in the dialog background, Stripes, watermarks, gradients, images and every concievable combination thereof.
